Game of Thrones had one of its biggest deaths yet and fans are heartbroken

It was particularly hard to watch.

Nobody is ever really safe in the world of Game Of Thrones.

And this week was no exception – with fans saying their final farewell to a character who has been there since season one.

This post contains spoilers for Game of Thrones season seven, episode six, “Beyond the Wall.”

Even though beloved characters often die in Game of Thrones, it can still be pretty tough to get used to.

But the major death in this week’s episode really struck a chord with fans of the HBO hit.

Daenerys and her dragons – Viserion, Drogon and Rhaegal – flew in to rescue Jon Snow and his brave band of men, who were surrounded by hundreds of white walkers and wights.

The group, which included Torment, Jorah, Beric, Thoros, Gendry and The Hound, went beyond the wall to try and capture a White Walker to convince Cersei of the imminent danger.

But they quickly found themselves surrounded by the army of the dead – and no escape route in sight.

It was particularly heartbreaking to see Daenerys’ reaction to loosing Viserion – especially since she refers to her three dragons as her “children”.

But things quickly went from and to worse as soon as the heroes left for The Wall.

Viserion was resurrected by the Night King in the final moments of the epic episode – making him the ultimate weapon in the White Walkers’ mission to demolish Westeros.

And fans were absolutely devastated after watching Viserion’s death.
