As the Battle of Winterfell reached its arse-clenching climax, one Game of Thrones fan was vindicated.
The Night King is dead. He was killed by Arya Stark, using the Catspaw dagger. No flaming rock hurled by a catapult, no army, not even dragonfire, could take down Game of Thrones’ resident bad dude. Instead it was the youngest Stark, armed with a tiny shank that’s been part of the story since season one.
And that’s the giveaway.
More than a year ago, one Game of Thrones fan predicted it all and got bodied by fellow disbelieving Redditors in the process.
u/gride9000 identified the knife as a “hero prop,” a filmmaking term for an item involved in close ups and requiring high levels of detail, and listed its appearances before declaring:
“Ill tell you, shes going to kill the fucking night king because that blade has some of the original dragon glass from the Childeren of the Forest’s Night King creation. It is the magical deleate button we’ve all been looking for. That’s my theory. [sic]”

A prediction on a level with the magical Lady in Red Melisandre, who made the same prediction in season three when she told Arya: “I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes sealed shut forever. We will meet again.”
The replies now seem a little misguided:
“Where is the dragon glass on the Catspaw dagger? Valyrian steel and dragon glass are not the same. Also the piece that made the Night King most likely is still inside his chest.”
“The screen time most likely is showing that it came from Littlefinger and Bran knows this. Part of this is pointed out in the Chaos is a ladder quote. It would be a good way to get rid of Littlefinger.”
“Still like the theory that Jaime kills him, and revamps his “Kingslayer” name, killing a (ICE) and (FIRE) king. How? You’re guess is as good as mine.”
