Just when you thought Kendrick Lamar couldn’t elevate new album To Pimp a Butterfly any further, the video for latest single Alright comes along.
The 28-year-old rapper is known for accompanying his releases with some of the most awe-inspiring videos going, and this is no exception.
The seven-minute epic has it all, from a powerful-yet-understated spoken-word intro and outro, to a stunning wide shot of Lamar rapping from atop a set of traffic lights.
Shot entirely in black and white, the video is the Californian’s first collaboration with director Colin Tilley, who has previously worked with the likes of Nicki Minaj and 50 Cent.
Coming hot in the heels of third single King Kunta, Alright marks out Lamar as a true worldwide star; certainly one of the best in his field now, if not one of the greatest of all time.
