There’s always been a cultural obsession with Kurt Cobain, so it’s no wonder his cardigan was sold at auction for a hefty price.
It’s not any old sweater either, it’s the cardigan he wore during Nirvana’ appearance on MTV: Unplugged. The knit had been expected to make up to $80,000 but in fact sold for $140,800 (£93,000).

Meanwhile, it seems the time is now to sell coveted rock memorabilia as at the same auction, John Lennon’s J-160E Gibson Acoustic guitar was also sold for a huge price.
Lennon, who used it to record Beatles hits ‘I Want to Hold Your Hand’ and ‘She Loves You’ sold for a whopping $2.4 million. Not bad considering he bought it in 1962 for £161.

The item was described as ‘the most important Beatle guitar ever to hit the auction block’ after it was reported as missing for almost 50 years.
Obviously not an auction for us ‘normal’ music fans…
