Top Gear is back, and people aren’t pleased.
From the moment it was announced Top Gear would be returning without the presenting trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond people were up in arms.
For many Top Gear was the presenters. Changing them would mean making the show something its not.
But the BBC kept on with its plans of a new look show and held faith, even when it went through a few problems.
Maybe a lot of problems and mickey taking.
But after months of hype and trailers and blusters and apologies, the very first episode of the Chris Evans – Matt LeBlanc era of Top Gear arrived on our screens this week.
However, viewers didn’t exactly take too kindly to the first episode of the new era on Twitter.
Here’s the best reaction…
Sorry #TopGear … switching off … looking forward to the proper boys on @amazonprimenow soon … night all xxx

The new #topgear resembles a 4th generation Subaru Impreza Turbo. A faint facsimile of something that was fun and relevant a decade ago.

The way Chris Evans introduced the Stig completely ruined it. I think this will be the first and last new #TopGear episode I watch

I can't believe they've included cars in this new series of #TopGear! They've totally ruined it. Cars. Driving. Pfft.

Still, it was only the first episode, and even in the Clarkson era Top Gear had hit and miss episodes. As one TV critic put it.
The thing is #TopGear was dreadfully tired before it all kicked off last year. So this new series is probably good timing.

Sometimes I think it's popular on Twitter to slag off a show rather than giving it time to breathe. It's this desperation for retweets.

With Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon show, The Grand Tour planned for release in the future, the new look Top Gear will have its work cut out to keep fans from jumping ship.
Still, having more than one television programme about cars is a nice thing, however you spin it.
What do you think of the new look Top Gear?
