Louis is coming back to our TV screens very soon.
2016 was a very impressive year for Louis Theroux as the beloved documentarian released his his debut film, My Scientology Movie, and made a triumphant return to our TV screens with three features that examined alcoholism, brain injury and Jimmy Savile.
With the news that Theroux has three more documentaries airing on BBC2 in the near future, it’s clear that the public’s love for Louis shows no signs of fading.
Given the staggered nature of film releases in different countries, My Scientology Movie is only now being released in the US and to mark its launch, the talented broadcaster took part in a live Q&A to promote its release.
I'm answering questions on twitter about My Scientology Movie later today in advance if its us release https://t.co/mRQQAawduc

During the very interesting chat, Theroux revealed that he’s excited to see the documentary that the Scientologists ended up making about him and when asked if there was “any footage you weren’t allowed to use in the film?,” he replied “any material relating to Tom Cruise was the most contentious. Lots of conversations with BBC lawyers!”
If you haven’t seen My Scientology Movie then it’s certainly worth a watch, but in a career that has spanned almost 25 years, Theroux has consistently proven himself to be a fearless and unbiased broadcaster.
Given that Theroux has frequently spent time in the company of killers, drug dealers, anti-semites, neo-Nazis, gang members and criminals, it’s fair to say that he has a wide range of interests when it comes to his documentary subjects.
This being said, when asked if there was a subject that he wouldn’t film a documentary about, he said “I would have been very curious to see what was going on in the Islamic State. I find religious extremism really bizarre, but also fascinating. But, I think it was mainly fear that prevented me going over there. I’ve seen too much about journalists being taken hostage and being beheaded, so I steered clear of that one.”
Take a look.
