Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the first couple of hours since rising from bed on Monday morning, you’ll have known that one of the most embarrassing moments in the history of the Oscars occurred on Sunday night, when La La Land was erroneously announced as the winner of Best Picture, when Moonlight actually won instead.
It didn’t mark the end of the world or anything but as ceremonial fuck-ups go, it was a pretty catastrophic one.
Unfortunately for all the other award winners on the night, that monumental error was all anyone could talk about after the 89th Academy Awards, including the great and good of Hollywood that had gathered at the Dolby Theatre on the night.
Of all the reactions to it, however, few were better than that of director M Night Shyamalan, a man renowned for making movies with plot twists that nobody could see coming.
