Yes, that’s Nicolas Cage singing the Hokey Cokey while angrily wielding a sledgehammer.
Nicolas Cage has played some pretty out-there roles in the course of a long and interesting career, but even though we’ve seen only a brief snippet of his next project, we’re certain it will top anything he’s done to date in terms of sheer ridiculousness.
We know what you’re thinking, but nope, not even the memorable “put the bunny back in the box” scene from Con Air comes close to this.
This being Mom and Dad, a horror starring Cage and Selma Blair as parents who succumb to some sort of epidemic that turns parents in their sleepy town against their children and arouses in them an overwhelming desire to murder them.
Yep, you read that right.
Directed by Brian Taylor of Crank and Crank: High Voltage fame, the plot and trailer to Mom and Dad are so ridiculous that it might just work, with Cage, from the evidence of the trailer at least, going full Nicolas Cage in a manner arguably not seen since, well, Con Air 20 years ago.
Having already been broadcast at festivals in the US, Canada and Spain, Mom and Dad is slated for release in cinemas in January in the United States, but, as of yet, there is no word on when it will be released on this side of the world.
We genuinely can’t wait…
