With news that Peaky Blinders won’t be returning until 2019, fans of Steven Knight’s show must be angrier than Arthur at the prospect of a few months without the Shelbys. Na, we’re ok, if it takes a year to make a season that’s as good as the one that just aired, we’re more than happy to wait.
This being said, the show has become a global phenomenon with bars, gins, jumpers and beers being launched, it’s only logical that a Peaky Blinders festival is in order.
Black Country Living Museum – the set for some of the gritty BBC gangster series action – is bringing back its popular Peaky Blinders Nights and it’s the closets that you’ll get to living in 1920’s Birmingham and being a proper Shelby.
Ok, what’s in store? You can get 1920s and 30s themed cocktails, live Peaky Blinders-themed theatre, and a chance to head to the museum’s own ‘Garrison Pub’ for a pint.
If that’s not enough to convince you to head along, Charlie’s Yard is also going to be there and you can head for a walk along the Birmingham canal network and see the murky underworld where the show was actually filmed.
Guests are also encouraged to enjoy the roaring nightlife that characterised the interwar years by enjoying some enjoy live music, entertainment, and dancing. Be warned though, watch out for any fights that break out around the Museum, as this year live street theatre will bring the gun-slinging gang warfare to life before your eyes.
It’s taking place over two weekends – on September 7 and 8, and 14 and 15 – and will run from 7 to 10.30pm.
If you fancy heading along, tickets go on general release on February 1 at 10am but there’s a way to book your ticket ahead of this date, and enjoy a 20% discount too.
Tickets cost £17 and Peaky Blinders fans will absolutely see it.
