“Seduce and manipulate, to use your body, to use everything.”
Plot’s it all about? Lawrence plays Dominika Egorova, a Russian ballerina who is recruited into the ‘Sparrow School’, a part of the Russian intelligence service. There she is thought how to use her body as a weapon and infiltrate the enemy and dispose of them as necessary.
However, during her first mission, she crosses paths with an American CIA agent (Edgarton), who claims to have information that will forever change Egorova’s perception of her mother nation.
J-Law reunites with Francis Lawrence (no relation, as far as we know), the director of the majority of The Hunger Games series, for this serious looking spy thriller that has shades of both Atomic Blonde (check out the platinum wig) and the back story of Black Widow from The Avengers, but all told with a more serious, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy-vibe.
Sex, violence, double-agents, and Russian accents. What more could you want from a spy thriller?
