Fancy a road trip? By order of the Peaky Blinders!
Despite the fact that Tommy Shelby’s main focus is primarily on his burgeoning business deals in the US, the Peaky Blinders leader will still be keeping a firm eye on local matters in Season 5. A few weeks ago, Paul Anderson (Arthur) gave an interview with The Metro where he revealed a few details about the next season.
The actor said that Tommy’s new political position as a Labour MP for Birmingham “gives Arthur and his family more power. Tommy is in a position of power, and he can only get stronger in that position. So we’ll all have more cover, we’ll have more opportunity and more protection. And by protection, I mean by society and the police and so on. We’ll be able to get away with things under the guise of, “we’re politicians, we’re respectable”. But we’ll be able to manipulate things more. Arthur will be even more Arthur. So it will be a lot of fun.”
There’s no denying that Tommy’s a busy man but if he’s looking for a bit of R&R, we all know that loves his smokes and whiskey. In the show, we’ve seen The Garrison being destroyed and rebuilt but the producers are reportedly lining up another pub to film some scenes in, according to The Daily Post.
They’ve reported that The Albion Ale House in Conwy, North Wales, is being lined up as a location for Season 5 of the hit show. The pub previously won Wales’ Pub of the Year 2013 and it’s regarded as the best example of a 1920s pub in Wales – in the UK, it’s one of the very few pubs from that era that has kept its original features.
Of the ten hand pulls on the bar today, four are originals from the 1920’s. The pub also features coal fires and push bells that were previously used decades ago to summon the bar staff.
Speaking with The Daily Post., Geraint Hughes, the manager of The Albion said: “The staff were told in early January that Peaky Blinders are interested in coming here to film. It would make a perfect fit as Peaky Blinders is set in the same decade as the Albion.”
After receiving sterling reviews on TripAdvisor, the pub also has a Certificate of Excellence. The producers of the show haven’t confirmed any production details regarding the next season, but the decor does fit with the period that the show is set in. We’ll wait and see.
