“I think Nick Fury just hijacked our summer vacation”
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to 2016’s Homecoming, has just dropped, and there is a *lot* to take in.
First of all, it sees Peter Parker and his classmates head to Europe on a summer trip. In the trailer, we see Spidey in both Venice and London (yes, that is Tower Bridge he is swinging from).
Then we have Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury showing up, meeting Spider-Man for the first time.
Not only that, Peter gets a new suit for his holiday, wearing a black and red outfit (slight Miles Morales influence maybe?), which appears to let him glide through the air.
Most importantly though, we get our first look at Jake Gyllenhaal’s villain Mysterio – and he is wearing a costume just like the comics, fishbowl head and all.
The official synopsis reads:
Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!
As great as Far From Home looks, it will have a lot to live up to – last year’s animated Into The Spider-Verse was one of the greatest superhero films of all time.
Spider-Man: Far From Home is due for release on July 5th.
