This isn’t the first time they’ve predicted the future.
The Simpsons writers, although they aren’t particularly funny anymore, and haven’t been since season 10, appear to have a remarkable knack for clairvoyance – often writing in unlikely scenarios that then, somehow, happen in real life years later.
Some of their most famous predictions have included Trump becoming president, the horse-meat scandal, Greece’s financial crisis and ebola.
They can now add another feather to their cap, having predicted eight years ago that the US would beat Sweden in the Winter Olympics curling final.

In the men’s final, which happened earlier today, the United States men’s team upset the odds against favourites Sweden to claim their first ever medal in the event in remarkable fashion after being on the brink of elimination from the competition less than a week ago.
In the episode, entitled “Boy Meets Curl” and which aired almost eight years to the day, it is Homer, Marge, Agnes and Seymour Skinner that steer America to glory.

Unfortunately, they didn’t have enough about them to predict the world’s most average skier competing in the finals in PyeongChang.
