The residents of Walford are in for quite a Christmas.
We already knew that things would get a bit heavy on EastEnders over the festive season with Max Branning’s revenge storyline finally unfolding, but that’s not all that’s coming.
There’ll be a shock death on the soap over Christmas, it’s been revealed.
EastEnders‘Â executive consultant John Yorke announced the news this week.
“I came up with a tagline to guide us through the episodes,” he explained.
“It was pretty cheesy, but as Mick and Linda were about to renew their wedding vows, I came up with this line: ‘Someone old, someone new, someone’s dead and someone’s blue’.
“Marketing quite rightly raised their eyebrows! But in my head, the gist of that promise holds true.”
He stayed tight-lipped about who exactly will be killed off, but it looks like there are plenty of contenders.
It’s been hinted that both Max and Wilmott-Brown and his gang will face repercussions for their actions over the festive period, so maybe one of them may meet their end.
Either way, we can’t wait to see what Max gets up to this Christmas – sounds like he’ll be doing some killing.
“Max goes on a murderous, psychotic bender,” Jake Wood, who plays Max, told the Sun last week.
“It is all coming to a head and hopefully, in years to come, it will be seen as one of the best and most iconic Christmas episodes ever.
“When I was reading the Christmas scripts the only way I could make sense of what Max was doing was that he was having a psychotic episode.”
We’ll have to wait for the hour-long EastEnders special, which airs at 9pm on Christmas Day.
