Tom Hardy’s latest film project will see him play legendary war photographer Don McCullin.

Hardy, who had stand out year in 2015 with roles in Mad Max: Fury Road and The Revenant, will play the world renown photojournalist.

As reported in Deadline, the upcoming film will be adapted by ’71 writer Gregory Burke and will be an adapation of McCullin’s autobiography Unreasonable Behaviour.

From a childhood growing up in from wartime London to becoming one of the most famous war photojournalists for The Times, Don McCullin is a fine choice for the biopic treatment.

For those wanting a quick up to speed on the photographer, watch this short documentary below, Don McCullin tells us about his life documenting war, and the tale of how, in 1968, his Nikon camera stopped a sniper’s bullet intended for him.

Working for the Sunday Times from the late 60’s to the early 80’s, Don McCullin frequently risked life and limb to capture the harsh realities of war in Vietnam, Cambodia, to Biafra and Uganda, one black and white image at a time.

Often regarded as one of the finest photojournalists of all time, this is sure to be a meaty role for Tom Hardy to get into. We can’t wait for when the (as yet untitled) film is released.
