WWE fan favourite Daniel Bryan has been forced to retire from wrestling after a series of concussions.
In a world where legends like Ric Flair stay involved in the process well into their sixties, it is a sad sight to see someone of Bryan’s stature retire at just 34-years-old.
The former world heavyweight champion announced the decision on Monday, promising to provide further explanation during Monday Night Raw later that evening.
Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I'll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude

Bryan was one of the most popular wrestlers in the promotion and fans around the world lamented the sport’s loss with his retirement.
In a speech on Monday Night Raw in his home state of Washington, the Ring of Honor “founding father” explained how concussions had been a constant throughout his 16-year career, and even described how he suffered three concussions during the first five months of his career as a teenager.
While critics of wrestling are quick to point out that “it’s all fake”, the sincerity shown by Bryan on Monday night was a powerful reminder of how much these athletes give for our entertainment.
