The Force is strong with this.
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, James Corden struck TV gold when he created the concept for carpool karaoke because the TV host has seen his profile steadily rise by getting some of the most famous faces in Hollywood to sing along to some of his favourite tunes.
We would never ask a Wookiee to take part in this, though, because they’re more likely to rip your arms out of your sockets.
But one Wookiee that seems like she’s up for anything is the internet’s latest viral sensation, “Chewbacca Mum” Candace Payne.
Even if you’re not a huge fan of Corden’s comedy, it’s hard not to be swept up in the fits of infectious laughter in this video – in which Star Wars director JJ Abrams also makes a cameo.
Laugh it up fuzzball.
Texas woman Candace has become a global superstar thanks to the simple video she transmitted via Facebook Live on Thursday.
The video showed Star Wars fan Candace unboxing a Chewbacca mask in a department store carpark, and her hysterically joyous reaction to its functions.
Her video has now been viewed 140million times. That makes Candace’s video the biggest hit yet for Facebook’s live streaming service. The record until now was BuzzFeed’s exploding watermelon video, with 10 million views.
Speaking to the BBC about her newfound stardom, Candace has said: “That’s just crazy. I’m just laughing – in all honesty, that is ridiculous. I’ve looked at the number of views and it just seems like someone is just playing with a calculator.”
We learned in the last few days that the department store where Candace originally purchased the toy spotted her video and wanted to continue spreading the joy. They visited Candace and family at home and presented them with an absolutely epic haul of Star Wars toys.
Candace didn't want to share her Chewbacca mask. So we showed up to make sure she didn't have to! #AllTheGoodStuffhttps://t.co/8gvLaj9VeF
