Powerlifter Larry Wheels bench presses with a staggering 110kg barbell in each hand

Larry Wheels is a friend of The Mountain's - and you can see why. He managed to bench press with a 110kg barbell in each hand, and didn't stop at one rep

This is all Larry Wheels’ world, and we’re just living in it

When you join a gym for the first time, you’ll eventually encounter a number of training milestones – each of which signify progress in one way or another.

One of these is the 100 kilogram bench press – or 225 pounds if you’re across the pond in the USA. Successfully benching with two plates either side of the bar is rightly viewed as a key achievement for any keen gym goer.

However, one American powerlifter has made this impressive feat pale in comparison with his own freakishly strong standards. Larry Wheels, who has also competed in bodybuilding, managed to bench press with a 110kg barbell in each hand.

Larry Wheels has shot to stardom as one of the most recognisable faces in the weightlifting world, and it’s easy to see why.

You would think one single rep of this insane lift would be enough, bit Wheels did not stop there. Not only does he manage to bench with both of these barbells, he manages three whole reps.

Wheels has recently been training with the reigning Europe’s Strongest Man – none other than actor Hafthor Björnsson – also known as The Mountain in Game of Thrones.

Wheels was present at Thor’s Power Gym in Iceland, when The Mountain deadlifted over 1000 pounds. In doing so, the Game of Thrones star even broke his own record in the process.
