‘Mike Bites’ come 25 years after the boxer’s infamous bite-fight
Boxer Mike Tyson has launched a new range of cannabis edibles shaped like ears – a nod to the now-infamous moment where he bit off a chunk of fellow-fighter Evander Holyfield’s ear during a championship bout.
There are many moments that have made Mike Tyson famous. The moment he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history (aged 20), the less inspiring moment he got a huge face tattoo and of course, the moment he bit a chunk of someone’s ear off.
It was back in 1997 that the incident took place. Tyson was fighting Holyfield in a heavyweight rematch, and decided to bite his rival’s ear in the third round – not once, but twice. Unsurprisingly, this led to Tyson getting disqualified – taking himself and a chunk of Holyfield’s ear out of the game, along with a whopping $3m fine. Not ideal.
Now, almost 25 years later, Tyson is hungry again. This time, for edibles.

Yes, Tyson’s cannabis brand, Tyson 2.0, has just launched a new range of edibles in the shape of ears.
The sweets, called ‘Mike Bites’, come in a sugary red colour, with a chunk missing from the top of the cartilage in the same spot where Tyson took a piece out of Holyfield’s ear.
These ears actually taste good!

Throwing even more shade, the bitey boxer took to Twitter to claim that “these ears actually taste good!”. He really has taken ‘munchies’ to a whole new level…
Despite Tyson’s clear digs at Holyfield, it seems the pair have put their differences aside since ‘The Bite Fight’.
In a 2019 episode of the podcast ‘Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson’, Holyfield said he “forgave” Tyson. It was here where Tyson first pitched an ear-shaped candy to him.
Tyson said: “You might be in business because we’re going to make some ‘holy ears’. Edible ears that got a bit taken out of them. Holy ears.”
Former co-host Eben Britton joked about taking a mold of Holyfield’s ear.
“Well, I could do that,” he replied.
