The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming soon

A gamer claims he has successfully bought a Nintendo Switch 2 console months before it is officially announced but it cost him an eye-watering price.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be one of the biggest console launches of all time following the success of the handheld Nintendo Switch 1 console but one internet user says they have already got their hands on the console.

A user on a Chinese forum claims to have bought a Nintendo Switch 2 for $40,000 from the black market.

The Xiahongshu forums user says the price includes a dock, console and joycon controller and insists he has paid for the console before Nintendo has even had time to officially announce it.

The claims have not been verified and it is unlikely people will be lining up to shell out the astronomical amount for an early version of the console. Instead shoppers will probably wait for official pre orders to be confirmed.

Shopto has already opened up pre orders for 1p but the eye-catching deal does not actually guarantee you will get your hands on a console first despite thousands of people signing up for the pre order.

Good news could be on the horizon for Switch fans however because some people expect Nintendo to hold a Direct event this week with more details on the highly anticipated console.

Nintendo has held a Direct event on a Wednesday in February every year for the past four years and Wednesday 19 February or 26 February would be the final chance for the company to do the same thing in 2025.

If there is a Direct event it is still likely the first Nintendo Switch 2 orders will open towards the end of May or early April 2025, meaning fans will have to remain patient for a little while longer.

In the meantime fans can begin to get excited about new games for the console. A new Mario Kart game has already been teased on the Nintendo Switch 2 trailer, while Yooka-Replaylee, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A are all rumoured to be on the roster for the console at launch.
