Epic Games, the makers of Fortnite, have confirmed that the game is currently down for the foreseeable future for “emergency maintenance” due to upgrades taking place on their database.
The massively popular game – which sees 100 at first weaponless players dropped onto an island and face off in a battle royale – has been down since early this morning, infuriating plenty of late night players.
While there was no explanation at first, Epic have since confirmed that maintenance is taking place on the game, though no official time or date has been given for its return.
We're bringing the servers offline for emergency maintenance. We apologize for this inconvenience. We currently have no ETA on when servers will be back up. Stay updated with our status page here: https://t.co/3y0X6buriO

Understandably, this news has not been welcomed by devoted fans of the game, who have reacted to the news with a mix of annoyance and disbelief.

I just fucking know it. The second my face hits the pillow and my eyes begin to close, the fortnite servers are going to come back online. I don’t like this situation at all.
