A gamer claims his life was saved from a stray bullet by nothing more than his headset.

The 18-year-old from Torrance, California, told of his ordeal in a post on the r/razer subreddit – the brand of headset which reportedly saved his life – on March 30.

User /Enough_Dance_956 wrote: “Hello to everyone who sees this. I’m trying to get a hold of someone at Razer to thank them with all my heart.

Razer headset protects gamer from stray bullet

“Wednesday morning at 10:30am a stray bullet went through my window and hit the Razer headphones on top of my head. If it wasn’t for the headphones made with good quality I would’ve been a dead kid at the age of 18. I couldn’t even imagine all the pain my family and friends would’ve been through.”

Given the post’s proximity to April Fool’s Day, many called the gamer out for having faked the whole thing, at which point he shared more photographic evidence. The teen says he found the bullet lying on their bed and turned it over to the local police.

Headset saves gamers life

Speaking to PC Gamer, a spokesperson for the company assured this was not staged or an attempt at a prank – at least to their knowledge: “This is not an April Fool’s prank, at least not from us. We’ve reached out to the community member already to thank him and at least get him a new headset.”

Razer founder and CEO, Min Liang-Tan, even commented in the thread below the post saying, “Whoa—that’s crazy. Glad you’re OK!”, as well as sharing the incredible story on his Twitter feed.

It’s unclear as to how and why the bullet ended up being fired into the teen’s home and whether it was specifically the Kraken model Razer headset that was strong enough to block the ricocheted shot, but we know which brand we’ll be buying from now on.
