A handy guide to the washing care labels on your clothes

Washing clothes is difficult.

There’s loads of confusing symbols on the labels that are deeply unnecessary. Surely it would take up far less space to simply write ‘Do not tumble dry’ on the label, rather than a series of hieroglyphics decipherable only by ancient Japanese wizards?

Alas, we’re left wondering and Googling what those dainty little symbols mean. Do they hold the mysteries to the universe? Is it a cry for help from the kids being paid £2 a week to make these clothes?

Wonder no longer. I have decoded these mysterious symbols and will now share my findings.
