Do NOT try this at home.
To fully understand why people are, for whatever reason, blowing up the microwaves in their homes because of a tweet, we first need to go to Japan.
Last month, this video was released and has since gone viral (over 2 million views and counting), which shows you how to take a normal ball of tin foil and turn it into a perfect shiny ball.
It basically involves getting some normal tin foil, and putting a hammer to it, and then some polish.
Quite why anyone would actually WANT a perfectly shiny ball of tin foil, we’re not 100% sure of, but we’ll leave that question for another day.
However, in the days that followed the video going global, someone took to Twitter to make the following claim:

In case it wasn’t clear already, you should NEVER put any kind of metal in to your microwave, even if someone on the internet told you it would give you a shiny tin foil ball at the end.
