Today is International Beer Day, as it has been on 4 August every year since time immemorial.
It’s a Friday, the ideal day to celebrate the golden glory that is beer, and what better way to do so than by going home immediately after work, having a healthy dinner of lean meat and fresh vegetables, then going to bed early with a Horlicks.
Ha ha. Yes. That.
There are many wonderful beers in the world, and International Beer Day is the perfect excuse to drink a responsible amount (…) of your favourites. Some beers, however, hold a special place in the hearts of a particular people, and there’s no beer better loved by Scots than Tennent’s.
To mark the occasion, Tennent’s are reaching out to Scottish expats who left the land of my high endeavour, land of the shining river, land of my heart for ever, SCOTLAND THE BRAVE – sorry, got carried away – to give them a taste of home for free.
That’s right, if you know a Scot that’s moved to England or Wales, head to the Tennent’s Facebook page and nominate them for a free beer. You’ll have to be quick though, the cut off is midday on 4 August.
“Tennent’s is here to serve the nation, and that means making sure Scots who’ve flown the nest are supplied with Scotland’s favourite Lager on International Beer Day,” said Alan McGarrie, Head of UK Brand Marketing at Tennent’s.
“So, if your mates have started to say lake instead of loch, or they’re asking if caught the cricket at the weekend – get on to our Facebook and nominate them to receive a refreshing taste of Scotland.”
