Working with kids isn’t always straightforward.
Be it in a classroom or in sport, it goes with the territory that some children won’t pick up on things as quickly as some of their peers.
Take this example, which comes from a junior basketball game over in the States. You don’t have be an avid viewer of NBA to work out that the kids in the green vests are shooting left to right.
When the child in the number 13 vest receives the ball, he charges towards the opponent hoop, with his animated coach waving him on as he goes.
Unfortunately for #13, he soon finds himself swarmed by red vests as he reaches the three point line. In no mood to surrender possession, he turns and plays the ball to one of his teammates, wearing #2.
Sadly, this kid doesn’t quite seem to have grasped one of the main principles of invasion games – you don’t try and score points at your own end…
As he turns and starts to run towards his own basket, his despairing coach can be heard bellowing “Noooo” somewhere out of shot. Within seconds, the coach very much comes in to shot…
Just as the youngster is lining up an own-basket, the coach appears out of nowehere, sending the youngster to the floor as he blocks his shot.
As much as we’d love to see a little bit more of what happens next, the clip soon ends, depriving us of seeing what would’ve been an intriguing reaction to a grown man knocking a child to the deck.
