We’ve reached that stage in the evolution of mankind where financial irresponsibility and boyish chins have combined to make beard transplants a somehow lucrative market.
It’s something we never anticipated, yet at the same time we probably should have always seen it coming.
The New York Times reports that beard transplants made up 3.7% of hair restoration procedures in the US in 2014, more than double the 1.5% total in 2012.
The procedure has been carried out in the US and Canada using follicles from the back of the scalp, and it has been known to cost thousands of dollars.
It has not been confirmed whether that total includes a free craft beer, fixie bike and glasses.
