Times are hard.
Valentine’s Day. The commercial holiday that robs loved up people for their hard earned cash and makes single people feel that bit more lonely. Still, we all buy into it when it’s our turn to celebrate, because it’s nice to be soppy once a year and also; we are obliged to.
If times are tough, you haven’t got much disposable income and you’re stuck looking for a cheap Valentine’s Day plan, bargain retailer B&M have got you covered. It’s obviously not glamorous, but they have put together the ‘cheapest ever’ three course Valentine’s Day meal.
The meal for two will set you back £3.88, which is less than one rush hour journey from zones 3-1 on the London Underground. For that reasonable price, you will receive a packet of Skips to share for the starter and Uncle Ben’s steamed rice dressed in sweet and sour sauce for the main course. The sweet? Birds’ strawberry trifle.
It’s hardly gourmet, granted, but prawn crackers are included as a side dish. For the price, it’s not bad.
B&M claim it’s the cheapest meal deal ever, and it won’t even take up space in your fridge. All of its components can be stored in the cupboard.
It’s unlikely to woo a new partner, but if money’s tight and you are your partner just want to spend Valentine’s together without forking out for an expensive meal, this could be your saviour. You can always throw the packaging away and dress it up as a home cooked meal.
Only as a last resort, though.
