Haven’t got your hols sorted yet?
There’s still time but you’d want to be quick if you want to make your money go far.
It’s April but between the minus temperatures, grey skies and the fact that the farmers can’t even put livestock out in the fields yet, it still feels like we’re light years away from summer.
Travel sites always see a surge when the weather’s a bit meh so we’d recommend booking soon before prices jump.
There are still plenty of good deals available and if you’re truly cost-conscious, the best time to head away this summer is May.
That’s according to travel comparison website TravelSupermarket, which has looked at prices for popular holiday destinations for summer 2018.
It concluded that next month is best for thrifty travellers.
You could save 98 per cent on your holiday to the Costa Dorada in Spain by heading off in May as opposed to the most expensive time.
If you’d rather hit the Costa Brava you can save up to 55 per cent by travelling next month.
Other destinations that are significantly cheaper in May include Dubai, Orlando in the US, Ibiza, Zante, Lanzarote and Majorca.
“If you can be flexible on the date of your departure, you will find even better prices; travelling mid-week, for example often gives you savings,” said Emma Coulthurst from TravelSupermarket.
Sounds good but you’d better set up that WhatsApp group now if you want to get you and your friends organised within a month.
