Just in case you needed reminding that you shouldn’t do this…
The London Fire Brigade has been forced to issue an urgent message warning people not to cook steaks in their toaster.
In what is the latest weird trend over in the world of TikTok, many are taking part in the ‘toaster steak’ challenge, which as you may have worked out, involves people putting raw steak in a toaster to cook.
The trend has got that out of hand as far as the London Fire Brigade is concerned though, to the extent that they have decided to issue a statement telling people not to take part.
Alongside the warning, the London Fire Brigade also posted a video of a TikToker filming her experience cooking a steak in her toaster.
In a tweet, the London Fire Brigade said: “What you having for dinner? This #Electricalsafetyweek we’re reminding people to only use electrical products for their designated use.
“Don’t cook steaks in a toaster.”
In the short 11-second clip, TikToker @itsmeju1iette films herself putting a raw steak in a toaster, which then transitions to it being cooked and having some sauce put on it.

The TikTok has racked up almost 16 million views and 1.2 million likes.
It seems like this was the video that kicked off the trend, and #toastersteak has had thousands of hits on the social media platform since the video was posted.
It’s prompted plenty of reaction as well.
One person on social media said: “Don’t burn your house down for s**t steak,” while a second added: “What the heck is wrong with you?”
And a third commented under the original TikTok said: “Gordon Ramsay isn’t gonna be happy about this one.”
The Michelin-star chef did end up seeing the video, and unsurprisingly was furious at what he saw.
He labelled the TikToker an “idiot”, saying: “What are you doing? Toaster is for bread, and right now if I had two slices I’d stick them on your ears you idiot.
“And now you’re gonna cover it in sauce, really?”
