Gordon Ramsay admits using simple trick to dodge speed cameras

James Dawson

The police won’t be happy when they hear this.

Gordon Ramsay has revealed that he uses clingfilm to help him dodge speed cameras in the USA.

He owns a £160,000 Ferrari capable of hitting speeds of 200mph, but local laws mean that the maximum speed he is able to drive is 65mph.

However, he admitted to going above the limit in the early hours of the morning and having an easy way to avoid getting caught.

Ramsay told The Mirror: “I drive my cars at night when no one sees me.

“I’ll take it out at 2.30 in the morning on the freeway and I’ll blast on the motorway and no police catch me and no cameras because I wrap my number plates with cling film.

“It’s a great thing for a chef when they get your own Ferrari, just wrap it with cling film.

“It won’t photograph, it reflects. Brilliant! It’s a great tip. I’m trying to help you…”

To be fair on him, although he’s not a man much known for his humility, he did also say that his supercar is a little showy.

“I’m embarrassed to go to work in a Ferrari,” he added. “I’m embarrassed to drive them. It’s just something that I absolutely love, the perfection of it. Because everything that I see on that steering wheel, on that wheel, on that leather, I put on the plate.”
