Having five specific skills on your CV can get you a ‘high-paying’ job

The most-in-demand skills right now.

Cathy Donohue

If 2018 is your year to nab that dream job, there’s some information that can make all the difference.

Although different jobs require different skill sets, there are a number of skills that are highly sought after right now.

According to a report from The World Economic Forum, entitled The Future of Jobs, there are ten key skills that employers are all about this year.

Although we’re just going to concentrate on the top five in this piece, there are ten in total that can make all the difference to your CV this year.

These skills are in-demand at the moment but according to Inc, by 2020, these ten are set to be the ‘most desired’ which shows just how interesting this particular research is.

Check them out.

Complex problem-solving – predicted that 36 percent of jobs, in all industries, will require people to have this skill in two years time.

Critical thinking – employers want people who can employ logic and reasoning, who have ‘critical minds’ that can be used to evaluate powers of technology among other things.

Creativity – this was only number ten on the list in 2015, now it’s number three. Go figure.

People management – the ability to motivate, develop talent and decide who’s best suited to a particular job.

Co-ordination with others – it’s clear that social skills are becoming more important than ever and this one requires people who can collaborate, are sensitive to others and can adjust.

And there are five more because, the more the better, really. Employers are also rating Emotional intelligence, judgement and decision-making, service orientation, negotiation skills and cognitive flexibility
