The renowned guide has published its Readers’ Choice Awards, and for the fifth year in a row, Italy is the number one destination that people want to see.

The awards are based on the ratings and feedback of more than 128,000 readers — the highest level of participation in the magazine’s history.

In terms of the world’s best cities, London ranked 14th with Tokyo (1), Vienna (2), Kyoto (3), Barcelona (4) and Paris (5) comprising the top 5. Dublin also made the prestigious list, it ranked 39th out of the 40 cities that made the grade.

The Gainsborough Bath Spa in Bath, England ranked second in the list of Europe’s best hotels while the Summer Lodge Country House Hotel and Spa, Evershot, England is one place lower.
