As we’re reminded on what seems like an almost hourly basis, 2016 has been a bit rubbish.
Instead of going over exactly why this has been the case for the umpteenth time, here’s a bit of nice news to help us all end the year on a slightly more positive note.
It comes courtesy of three-year-old Michael Brown, who was formally adopted this week.
After the news became official, he posed for some pictures with his adoptive sisters which swiftly racked up the retweets when one of them – 17-year-old Dezhianna Brown – shared them on Twitter.
Just look at that face…

Speaking to BuzzFeed News, Dezhianna explained that Michael had been living with the family – his third Foster family – in Phoenix, Arizona, since Februrary of 2015. Whereas he had cried a lot and been shy to begin with, she said that Michael had changed during the time he had spent with them.
“He’s a lot more outgoing now and you can now see the personality in him,” she explained.

“Now when he sleeps with me, he’ll roll over in the morning and get super close to my face and say, ‘Dae, I so happy.'”
Officially adopted💙 We love you Michael. pic.twitter.com/iw9dllBYWv

If this doesn’t bring a smile to your face, nothing will.
More happy stuff like this in 2017, please.
