Something everyone will be talking about…

The newest iteration of the biggest football game on earth finally hits shelves this Friday.

The hype for the game has been feverish as always, but most of the noise has been centred around the switchover to the Frostbite Engine and FIFA’s first ever story mode, The Journey, where the player is tasked with guiding the talented starlet Alex Hunter to Premier League glory.

But we really don’t need to sell you on this one. Apologise to the rest of your video game collection. It’s not going to be needed for a while.

Something that’ll make you (seem) cooler…

Adidas is looking to the future by officially opening their first robotic shoe manufacturing plant in Germany.

The Futurecraft M.F.G. is the first trainer to come out of that factory. A running shoe that boasts Adidas’ signature Primeknit upper and 3D printed Boost midsole, you won’t be able to grab a pair outside of Germany for the time being, but athletes will be excited by the company’s claim that robots can use data and analytics to create better-performing and more personal shoes.

Large-scale production begins in 2017.

Something you should listen to this week…

Bon Iver release their latest album 22, A Million this Friday September 30, and Annie Mac chose the track ‘8 (circle)’ as her Hottest Record In The World at the beginning of the week.

It’s the longest track on the album, but judging by previous releases ’22 (OVER S∞∞N)’ and ’10 d E A T h b R E a s T ⊠ ⊠’ it might be the easiest one to bring up in the pub.

Does your incessant fidgeting drive your mates/colleagues/family up the wall? The Fidget Cube aims to fix that, and with well over $5m pledged it’s one of the most successful Kickstarters of all time.

So what’s the big deal? The ingenious desk toy has six different spinnable, clickable and flickable sides, with each mechanism producing sounds at varying volumes. Some make hardly any noise at all, so you can ninja fidget your way through a tedious meeting without alerting anyone in the process.

As explained in the initially tongue-in-cheek campaign video, fidgeting can actually help people focus better on the task at hand, so it deserves to be embraced.

Have a watch here.

Amy Schumer has become the first woman to secure a spot on Forbes’ highest-paid comedians list.

The 35-year-old New Yorker has raked in $17million (£13.1million) in the last year, landing her in fourth place. Historically women have found it much harder to really make it big in stand-up, so this has to be seen as a landmark.

Kevin Hart is the highest-earning comic in the world, replacing Jerry Seinfeld who had held the top spot for 10 years.

Something we highly recommend…

Everyone’s watched Pointless, everyone’s celebrated wildly after correctly identifying a pointless answer and everyone’s wondered if the nation’s favourite quiz show is ever going to end (it won’t).

But what’s it really like to be a contestant on the show? We asked one.
