Join JOE in the search for Britain’s best sandwich

JOE

A truly great sandwich can be a life-changing experience.

From subs to focaccias, avocado on sourdough to pastrami on rye, the magical combination of fresh bread and quality fillings can do incredible things.

That’s why we at JOE have decided to go in search of the UK’s greatest sandwich, but we need your help.

We’ve got a few personal favourites, but everyone knows that little local cafe or market stall that they think is better than the rest.

All you have to do is email us at Hello@JOE.co.uk with the subject line ‘Britain’s best sandwich’. We’ll try as many as we can before deciding on the ultimate champion.

For now, though, here’s our first entry into the competition.

The Beast Mode – Delancey & Co, London

If you’ve ever been to a proper New York deli then you’ll have either (a) had a wonderful Reuben sandwich or (b) wasted your afternoon.

For the uninitiated, a Reuben consists of salt beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, usually on rye bread.

Delancey & Co, a New York-inspired joint in London, has kicked things up a notch with this monster of a sandwich.

Switch the dressing for special sauce and throw in heaps of turkey and you have the Beast Mode, and it’s well worthy of the name. Just bear this in mind – the photo above is only half.

£8.95 from Delancey & Co, Goodge St, London
