Bearded men are more sexist, more likely to steal, more likely to cheat on their partners and more likely to get into fights than clean-shaven men, according to a recent study.
The study, which was carried out by software company Qualtrics and referenced in the Daily Star, found that 47% of men with beards had cheated on their partners compared with just 20% of clean-shaven men and that 45% of men regularly got into fights as opposed to 29% of fellas with no facial fluff.
An accompanying study surveyed hundreds of men with facial hair of varying length, from light stubble to fully-fledged beards, asking them to agree or disagree with a series of statements about gender roles.
The study found that men with beards of any length tended to agree more with hostile sexist statements – for example, ‘women are better at cooking’ – than men without facial hair.
Commenting on the findings of the study, a Qualtrics spokesperson said: “Our research suggests that there is a link between beards and gender role beliefs, but it’s not apparent what causes this association.
“It’s possible that men with more negative attitudes towards women are more likely to choose to wear facial hair because it accentuates their apparent masculinity and dominance.”
