Passengers on a plane leaving Manchester for Spain had a lucky escape when the pilot performed an emergency landing with part of the wing hanging off.
The Spain-bound flight turned around while still flying over the UK, with what was described by Manchester Airport as a ‘minor issue’.
But the Manchester Evening News reports that passengers saw part of the plane’s wing hanging off.
“[The pilot] sounded slightly alarmed, which was worrying. We were flying in circles for a bit – it was scary because we didn’t know what was going on,” eyewitness Teresa Sims told the paper.
“But he did well keeping us safe. When you’re up in the air and know something’s wrong, but don’t know what, you start thinking all sorts of things – your mind wanders. It was terrifying.”
