He got the response he deserved
So it’s official, Meghan and Prince Harry are married. However, the happy couple isn’t all that’s garnering attention this afternoon, because Bishop Michael Curry absolutely stole the show.
He opened his speech with the words of Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr, who said: “We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world. Love is the only way.”
The bishop then added: “There’s power in love. Don’t underestimate it. Don’t even over-sentimentalise. There is power, power in love.”
From there he launched into a sermon for the ages. In it, the Reverend talked a lot about love… and fire. “Love is the way,” he said – later adding: “We gotta get y’all married.”

It wasn’t what anyone expected from a British royal wedding but it worked.
Everyone from Kate to Camilla, to Eugenie and Beatrice, and even to the Queen herself was laughing during the Bishop’s delivery.
Watching the royals watch American Bishop Michael Curry has become an unexpected highlight of this #RoyalWedding. This man is fantastic. pic.twitter.com/U8w3vWOyoV

I vowed not to tweet about the #RoyalWedding but I am LOVING how un-British and how un-UK-royal the sermon is right now and how the very very white and constrained royal family members are struggling to handle it. Bishop Michael Curry is an absolute legend. ✨❤️✨

I’m not going to lie, Rev Michael Curry’s enthusiastic address has had the press room in stitches (not to mention the congregation). Someone please send me a screen shot of Zara Phillips’ face….#royalwedding

If Pippa was the unexpected star of Kate’s wedding, Michael Curry is the star of this one. Wonderful, wonderful sermon.
