Restaurant chain invents a taco made out of fried chicken

How do you even come up with something like this.

Tom Victor

Remember when KFC invented a sandwich with fried chicken instead of bread and we all laughed? Well no one’s laughing now.

If you’re wondering what has brought about this revelation, it’s a work of true culinary art from Taco Bell.

The American restaurant chain has looked at the tacos it makes and thought ‘hold on, what if – instead of a corn or wheat shell – we made one out of…wait for it…chicken’.

Working on the ‘you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take’ principle, Taco Bell have spent *two years* testing and perfecting a dish known as the ‘naked chicken chalupa’.

Announcing the launch with the tagline ‘The shell is the chicken. The chicken is the shell.’ – which is basically just saying the same thing twice, Taco Bell confirm the chicken shell will be filled with lettuce, tomato, cheddar cheese and a creamy avocado ranch dressing.

It will launch in the United States on January 26, but as of yet there is no word on whether it will make its way to Taco Bell’s handful of UK restaurants.

In the meantime, we’re starting to wonder whether they were inspired to create their latest concoction by this tweet from back in 2013. If so, they probably owe Iréne a free taco or 10.
