A study undertaken by the International Journal of Travel and Tourism Research has yielded surprising results: that you’re likely to have a better experience on your travels if you go by yourself.
The survey involved 24 travellers who had recently flown solo on their travels on trips that lasted an average of nine days.
The reasons that people prefer travelling alone are exactly what you would expect. Less pressure to conform to the plans of other people, an increase in precious me-time and not having to compete with the people around them.
While there’s a lot to be said for travelling in packs, traveling by one’s self also allows for more time to reflect and do some self-discovery, according to Queensland University professor Constanza Bianchi.
