Whilst most of us consider the train as a way of getting home at night, one college student has found her ‘Home, sweet home’ on the tracks.
Leonie Müller, from Cologne but currently living anywhere in Germany, has taken to dwelling on trains rather than paying rent at a fixed abode. That means eating, sleeping, working and bathing on the railways.
“It all started with a dispute I had with my landlord,” she told the Washington Post. “I instantly decided I didn’t want to live there anymore — and then I realised: Actually, I didn’t want to live anywhere anymore.”
The 23-year-old has bought a subscription allowing her to board any train in Germany at no extra cost. In means she can hop on and off any line she pleases and call it her temporary home.
“I really feel at home on trains, and can visit so many more friends and cities. It’s like being on vacation all the time,” she explains.
All of Müller’s necessary possessions fit into a rucksack. That includes her tablet computer, college papers and, of course, a sanitary bag.
Some of us may feel that we’re living life in the fast lane, but that’s nothing compared to a home that travels at 190mph.
