Disneyland London…or something similar anyway.

A new Paramount theme park could be on its way in the next few years.

According to The Daily Mail, Paramount London will be in Kent and it could span over 872 acres. The £2bn project is currently on track for a 2021 opening – assuming permission is granted for it to go ahead.

It’s believed that the theme park will feature attractions based on content produced by Paramount Pictures, whose back catalogue includes Star Trek, Titanic, The Godfather, Mission: Impossible, as well as Aardman Animations (makers of Wallace and Gromit) and BBC Worldwide shows (so there’s potential for Doctor Who and Sherlock-themed attractions).

The project also has ambitious plans for West End-level shows, nightclubs, bars and restaurants, a water park and cinema.

Reports say the theme park’s location is near Ebbsfleet International station, which is on the Eurostar route between London and Paris. Early estimations suggest the new theme park will have 50,000 visitors per day, and will employ in the region of 27,000 people.

London Paramount – the name of the company behind the project – has been holding public consultations about the project for over a year now, as a means of building local support, as well as addressing any transport and environmental needs.

Next year, the Planning Inspectorate will examine the application to then bring the plan to the Government, who will ultimately decide if it should go ahead.
