Father’s Day is just round the corner, but as young father Brad Kearns has discovered, being a mum is no walk in the park.
The 27-year-old father-of-two is pulling double parenting duty at the moment, as his wife is currently in hospital after liver failure.
Charting his efforts on his Facebook page DaDMuM, one post in which he talks about managing the workload his wife traditionally covered has gone viral.
Brad wrote:
“You know when your wife always says, ‘I wish I could be the dad’, and you’re like, ‘It’s the same thing’. Well sit back, relax, grab a drink, some popcorn, clear your schedule and hold onto your bootlaces, because I’m about to take you on a ride that could only be likened to a backwards 100mph roller coaster that takes you through waterfalls of vomit, sh*t and lots of tears.
“And once you’re finished with yours, you will move onto the children’s.”

Brad’s story of caring for Knox, aged two, and Finn, who is only six weeks old, certainly struck a chord with readers online.
There’s everything in his post: sleep deprivation, struggling to understand what your children want, and the very few sweet second you get to enjoy before they wake up all over again.
“It’s such a nice and serene moment you get to share with them…Right up until the part where he F***ING SCREAMS FROM THE HIGH HEAVENS… As if I’ve thrown him at a wall by his legs!”
“At least it’s only once a night, right??? I mean, why wouldn’t I want to do it all again at 10:30….12:00….1:45….3:30….”
The post, which can be read in full here, concludes on a rather lovely note as Brad takes stock of how lucky he is to have boys with such a loving mum.
“I have not even mastered the ability to keep my own personal hygiene as a mum, let alone the ability to keep a house, educate children, prepare meals, and even venture outside for activities.”
Keeping trying fella, we’re wishing you and your family all the best.
