They do things a little differently in America.
The saying goes that everything is bigger in Texas, but from the outside of the United States it looks like that holds true for the whole damn country.
While Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s original version of The Office ran for a grand total of 14 episodes across two seasons (including the two Christmas specials), the American re-make boasts a whopping 201 episodes from its nine seasons. Everything Stateside needs to have more.
That extends beyond pop culture too, into the news cycle where it seems like “bigger is always better” is the mantra driving all things American sometimes.
So while we’re sat here terrified that they might actually elect a man whose top qualification to be president appears to be his ability to shout, they’re making fun of the national pastime that is The Great British Bake-Off.
The difference between the two countries is made clear in a clip doing the rounds on social media which purports to show the contrast between American news and British news.
The video shows former judge and Fox News analyst Jeanine Pirro ranting and fear-mongering before cutting to a clip from BBC News reporting on the arrest of a local chicken.

As we all know, this is an entirely accurate representation of British news at all times. There is no bad news happening at all and everything is fine.
