How do you decide on where to have a stag do or a boozed-up getaway?
Forget the guide books – there’s only one way to decide really, and that’s finding the cheapest place on the planet for a pint then hastily booking some flights there.
Go Euro has put together a handy beer price index to find where you can get most bang for your buck – with some places almost £1 a pint.
Sadly you’re not going to find that in London – with the average ale around £2.92 a pint, leaving it in 62nd position in the world.
That’s a snip though compared to what you’ll pay for a jar in Geneva – at £6.32 it’s the most expensive watering hole in the world. You’ll probably end up stony broke before you’re even half cut.
If you’re looking for the cheapest place to drink in Britain then get booking a train to Liverpool.
The study placed the Beatles’ home city in 25th place worldwide. There you’ll get change from a tenner for a round of drinks with the average beer just £1.70.
But the survey has ranked the top 10 cities on the planet based on the price of a pint – and it looks like Eastern Europe is a straight up winner, clinching the top 3 spots.
