Tinder may soon make it possible for you to flirt with the beautiful stranger on the train

This is a game-changer.

Anyone who has read (or written into) those ‘Missed Connections’ snippets in daily tabloids will be aware of how many people out there develop massive crushes on complete strangers everyday.

You know the type of thing: “Red-headed girl on the Central Line reading Stephen King’s ‘Finders Keepers’ – I’d like to find and keep you…” – or something equally cringeworthy/creepy.

Well, a new company acquisition by Tinder points to the dating app allowing you to flirt with nearby strangers you like the look of. How exciting for the world’s stalking community!

Tinder have officially acquired Humin, a contact management startup, who in their own words “help users meet new people, connect with friends, and manage their relationships in the real world.”

But industry experts suggest the real prize is the technology and intellectual property behind ‘Knock Knock’ – an app Humin owns that allows registered users to view each other when in the same vicinity and make contact without exchanging numbers.

That’s all well and good, but it only works with the beautiful stranger on the train if he/she also has the Knock Knock app – and it’s hardly omnipresent. But Tinder is, and if everyone who uses Tinder has a Knock Knock style facility, well you’d never be far away from a potential date.

Let the really awkward looks around the tube to see who’s perving over you commence!
