We’re neither condemning nor condoning. We just want to understand.
In one of the odder pieces of fashion to find its way on to the high street, Topshop have released a rather unconventional article of clothing: completely see-through jeans.
The MOTO Clear Plastic Straight Leg Jeans cost an eye-watering £55 and are made entirely out of – you guessed it – plastic. Don’t worry though, they’re still machine washable.
The product description invites shoppers to “think outside the box with these out-of-the-ordinary clear plastic jeans – guaranteed to get people talking.”
Of this, there can be no doubt. The description continues:
“In a straight leg cut, they feature classic pockets detailing and are cropped at the ankle bone.
“Ideal as a statement piece for a festival or costume party, take the look to the extreme with a bikini and sequin jacket or dress down, layered under an oversized jumper or asymmetric hem dress.”
Okay, obviously this is not pitched at our particular gender, and if you’ve got the cojones to wear see-through trousers, more power to you, but think of how better spent that £55 could be.
You could get the rounds in at the pub, pay for taxis there and back, get a big filthy takeaway for after, a McDonald’s breakfast the next morning and still have change. Or, if you live in London, you could get a half of bitter and be grateful.
It’s a bold look, there’s no denying it. Let’s keep an eye on Topman to see if they release a version for the guys too.
