When finding something to break your fall, a rare painting valued at $1.5m (£950,000) is probably pretty low on most people’s lists.
But that’s the fate which befell a 12-year-old Taiwanese boy, who lost his balance while walking round a gallery and toppled straight into the precious work by 17th-century artist Paolo Porpora.
The shellshocked boy can be seen on CCTV footage slowly coming to terms with what he had done.
Thankfully the painting, part of an exhibition entitled Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius, was insured.
It’s a good job, too – imagine how long it would take to pay the cost of the damages.
