Thanks again, science...

We’ve all been there – down to one bar of battery and about to embark on a long journey or head out for dinner and a few drinks.

What can you do? Take the charger with you and try to find a table with a plug socket? Keep turning your mobile off after checking it to desperately save power? The unthinkable: Leave it at home!?

Thankfully, those times of panic could now be behind us after scientists in California developed a new phone battery that charges in a minute.

Cheering Minions

On top of that, the new power cell is safer than existing batteries, with lead researcher Hongjie Dai telling Sky News:

“Our new battery won’t catch fire, even if you drill through it. Lithium batteries can go off in an unpredictable manner – in the air, the car or in your pocket.”

The only question JOE would like to ask is: Who the hell would drill through their phone battery?
